Snow, apricots in bloom and apple planting

Spring is always an exciting and critical time for growers. At Almakúti, our apricot trees bloomed in the third week of March.

Thanks to favorable weather, there was an exceptional presence of bees for pollination. Bee colonies were placed in large numbers, even though a late snowfall of 5 cm occurred on Sunday morning, April 3. The blossoms are still protected, but once the covers are removed, the first small fruits will become visible. While the risk of night frost remains until the end of April or early May, we remain cautiously optimistic for a strong apricot season in 2022.

Apple planting
We have also planted new apple trees, 27,500 in total, sourced from our own nursery. The 6.5 hectares were just planted when we received nearly 40 mm of rainfall, which was greatly welcomed after an extremely dry period since November of the previous year.

Renewing the orchard is a recurring activity at Almakúti. This process is essential to maintaining a modern and healthy orchard. We continuously explore new varieties, fruit types, and innovative cultivation methods.
